The Teachers Health Trust (Trust) has two exciting announcements. First, there will be no premium increase for 2011 based on your current coverage; and second, effective July 1, 2010, the Trust will allow dependent children aged from 19 up to 26 to be enrolled for coverage regardless of full-time student or marital status.
The eligibility guidelines are simple:
- The dependent cannot be eligible for or have health insurance coverage through his/her employer.
- You will need to complete a change form and a Dependent Certification form and submit it to the Trust.
- If the dependent has never had coverage with the Trust or has been off of the plan for more than two years, a copy of his/her certified birth certificate must be submitted.
A special enrollment period to add dependents aged from 19 up to 26 will be from July 1, 2010, through September 30, 2010. Coverage and additional premium rates will become effective the first of the month following receipt of required documentation. After September 30, 2010, dependents can only be enrolled during annual open enrollment or because of a life event.
All dependents currently enrolled for coverage will not be required to provide verification of continued full-time student status or disability.
Coverage for dependent children can only be terminated during open enrollment or within 31 days of obtaining other insurance coverage.
